The Warning Bell
We walked through the chaotic halls of high school, where
kids were rushing around like a herd of elephants trying to find their class. Kids were yelling in the hallway and the
football and cheerleaders were dressed up for their upcoming game. It was my sister’s first day of high school,
she was a freshman and I was a senior. For Lauren, it appears to be a very
different scenery, compared to middle school.
She was a tiny blonde girl, finding her way through the huge high
school.
There was a long screeching noise,
my sister turns to me panicking, “Logan, why is the fire alarm going off?”
I look at her confused, “What do you
mean?”
Lauren looks terrified and said, “Are you dumb? We
need to get out. There is a fire.”
I start laughing so hard that it
brought tears to my eyes. “That is just the warning bell telling us we have
five minutes until class,” I said.
Her face appeared as if she had done
something embarrassing in front of a crowd of people. She said, “Oh, awkward. Well, I’m going to go
to class then.” Lauren started cracking
up once she realized what she had done.
There was a five second bell, and just within those five seconds she was
ready to burst out of that place.
To me, that bell didn’t sound like a fire alarm at
all, but I had been attending there for my whole high school career. My sister took some time adjusting and
figuring out how high school worked. Lauren
learned many new things about high school, and she still is now.
i think the best withing of the story was you describing her face i can relate to her cause my freshman i couldn't figure out why the bells kept ringing twice

ReplyDeletei like how you tell the expiration on your sisters face of how scared she was about the bell and her it being her first day at a new school

ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about your writing is when you described kids rushing through the halls like elephants. My sister was also a freshman my senior year and she was the same way starting out.
