Snapshot Two: Capturing a Scene

Scared While Laughing

            It was the middle of my eighth grade year. My friends and I were all gathered at Ashley’s mom, Natalie’s house. We had planned a movie night together of all the Paranormal Activity movie series. Ashley provided food and games for us before the movie. The Paranormal Activity movies were very scary especially in the dark. It so happened that is when we were watching the movies. It was like the supernatural creature was breathing right beside me while watching the movies.

As we were in the middle of watching the series there was a knock on the door. We all screamed due to that the part of the movie was at a frightening scene so the knock took us all at surprise. As we all calmed down after being scared at the knock and jumping almost to the ceiling. Ashley’s mom, Natalie, leaped to answer the door. Natalie opened the door and there was a cop outside. Natalie said, “Hello, is there a problem officer?” “Yes, may I come in?” said the Officer. We were all scared at that moment even more. Natalie responded, “Of course.” The officer said, “I got a complaint of some loud screaming going on from this house.” “I’m sorry, my daughter and her friends are watching a scary movie. We will keep it down.” said Natalie. “Ok, have a goodnight and also how scared were they Natalie?” said the Officer.

It turned out that Natalie was friends with the officer and she asked him to stop by and scare us while we were watching the movie. After the officer had laughed we laughed about it and found out that while we all jumped to the knock on the door Natalie broke her lamp. We felt bad but then again it was karma for scaring us. We kept watching the scary movies and laughed at Natalie scaring us with a cop.
